Our Team

At the Ross Community Center, we have a diverse team of people dedicated to the central mission of the organization. Our small staff and large group of volunteers work closely together to make our center a better place every day. 

Jacqueline Hanoman

Executive Director

Jacquie is Venezuelan-Guyanese and has been in the United States for 14 years. She is a sociologist and educator with a Ph.D. from Purdue University, loves kids, engaging with people, and is passionate about lifelong learning. She lives in her dream world of hope and reality, weaving the rich tapestry of possibilities for the Ross Community Center to succeed. To Infinity and Beyond! is the motto by which she lives her life.

Paige Dennison

Community and Program Anchorwoman

Paige is from Gas City, Indiana, the home of James Dean. She studied Elementary and Early Childhood Education at Ivy Tech and Ball State University. She enjoys working with kids and helping parents get connected with services they are unaware of. She likes to meditate, go on bike rides, and enjoy nature.

Matthew Mercer

Maintenance/Rental Assistant

Matthew was born and raised in the Thomas Park Avondale neighborhood, the Ross Community Center neighborhood. He went to Muncie Central High School and loves building, repairing, and making our center look nice. He is a technology enthusiast and enjoys playing video games.

Christina Dunsmore

Community Program Coordinator

Christina grew up in Yorktown, IN where she graduated high school. She graduated from Ball State University with a degree in Sports Administration and later earned her master’s degree from Indiana Wesleyan University in Children, Youth and Family Ministry. Fueled by coffee and carbs, Christina helps coordinate the center’s community outreach, assists with the after school programs, and helps manage the Ross Center’s social media presence. With her husband, Zach, Christina homeschools her two daughters, Lilo and Dory; who also attend Explore!, the after school program at the Ross Community Center. Christina and her family love being outdoors, going to Disney World, and playing board games.

Rachel Foster

Education and Horticulture Coordinator

Rachel Foster grew up in the Muncie-New Castle area. She did her undergrad in Fine Arts Studio and History at Anderson University and her Master’s Degree in History at Ball State University. She is passionate about education and creativity in all its forms. She enjoys creating through printmaking and paint media and is loves cultivating creativity in others. She enjoys exploring different cultures through food and art and spends time collecting plants and exploring nature with her dog and her partner.

Sensei John Hampton

Head Instructor

Sensei Hampton is a Sixth-degree blackbelt (Rokudan) in Judo. He is a lifelong judoka, having begun practicing at age nine. He was an active competitor in Shiai for 40 years and continues to compete at the national level in Kata. Since 1984 at various centers and colleges, he has been teaching judo, including Indiana University Bloomington, where he was an adjunct professor in the School of Kinesiology, and Ball State University in Muncie. He is the founder of the Ross Community Center Judo Academy, which began in 2014.

Sensei Carey Mountcastle

Instructor

Sensei Mountcastle is a Third-degree blackbelt (Sandan) in Judo. He began training at Plattsburgh Air Force Base in Plattsburgh, New York, in the mid-70s. Sensei Mountcastle is an active competitor in Kata and former National Champion. He has been teaching Judo in Indiana since 2011, previously at Anderson Judo Club, and has been at the Ross Community Center Judo Academy since 2016.

Sensei Wendy Koslicki

Instructor

Sensei Koslicki is a Second-degree blackbelt (Nidan) in Judo. She has been a judoka since 11 years old, starting at the Sakuma Dojo in Washington State. She has competed throughout the U.S. and Canada, with home dojos in Washington, Louisiana, and Indiana. Before coming to Muncie, she re-registered the Washington State University Judo Club and served as coach from 2015-2018. Upon graduating with her PhD from Washington State University, she came to Ball State University, where she is an associate professor of criminal justice and criminology, assistant coach of the Judo Club at Ball State University, and assistant coach at the Ross Community Center Judo Academy.

Sensei James Boots

Instructor

Sensei Boots was elected Vice-President of the Indiana Judo Association in 1974 and earned the rank of Shodan from the USJF in 1976. He was awarded the Distinguished Service Award by the Indiana Judo Association in 1977. In 1984, he started the judo program at the YMCA in Anderson, IN and was the head instructor. Then, in 1988, he was appointed director of development of judo for Indiana; while serving as a member of the tournament committee for the USJF Senior Nationals in Ft. Wayne, IN. He has worked in judo clubs throughout Indiana, as well as, in Florida, the Grand Caymans, and the United Kingdom. In 2000 while in the UK, he was an instructor at the Welsh Coaches Day Clinic; and was made an honorary member of the Welsh Judo team and attended the British Open in Birmingham, UK. He has been with the Ross Community Center Judo Academy since 2018. He enjoys working with under privileged kids to make them better judoka and better people.
